The Ins And Outs Of Finding A Free Wedding Toast

By Amy Bartlett

Well, here you are you lucky soul; you have to give a toast at a wedding coming up and you don't have the slightest idea of what to say, when to say it, or anything about giving a toast. And, you don't have a lot of moolah laying around to fork out for someone else to write it for you; so the best thing for you to do is go online on the Internet, browse up some sites that offer a free wedding toast already written, download it, and you're good to go.

One of the biggest hurdles for people when they are in the position of having to give a toast at a wedding-----other than remaining on their feet in front of an audience in lieu of passing out-----is that they haven't a clue as to what to include in the toast, what is appropriate, and how to give it, or when. One thing to remember is, if you are attending a formal wedding, the rules are a little more stringent than if you were in someone's backyard for the wedding. As you progress from the rehearsal dinner, all the way through the wedding ceremony, and then the reception; there are certain rules to be followed, and you should make yourself aware of them before the day of the wedding.

The reception is a different story: at the reception usually the best man gives the first toast to the bride and groom, then the groom stands and toasts the bride and her family. The next order of business is for the two fathers to toast the happy couple and then, if wanted, the bride and groom can toast each other. And all of these toasts can be found online, and the great majority of them can be found on sites that tout a free wedding toast for every situation in any kind of wedding-----all you have to do is download them and print them out for your own use.

So, let's take a look at how you can embellish or use this free wedding toast that you have gotten from the Internet, and see what can be done with it. You want to add some thought of your own so it sounds like you actually wrote it, and not copied it from somewhere; and you want to be mindful of the time---don't let it run over 5min in duration, or people will be looking at their watches and yawning. Keep it simple and to the point, be sincere, be funny--not crude (there are virgin ears and kids in the group), and make sure you keep eye contact at all times with the couple. You are not performing, you are delivering heartfelt wishes---so act accordingly. End the toast with a raised glass and "Cheers!", or a blessing, or simply congratulations.

Let's take a look at some of the examples of a free wedding toast that can be procured from the Internet and used just as they are. Here's some for the bride and groom: "May we all be invited to your Golden Wedding celebrations", or: "May you both live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live." Here's another one for the couple: "May the roof above you never fall in, and may you both never fall out."

Now, take a look at some of these that were found on a free wedding toast site, and can be used for the bride and groom toasting other people or each other. Example: From the couple to the guests: "To our best friends, who know the most about us, but refuse to believe it." Or, here's one just in general from the couple: "May our children be blessed with rich parents.". And how about this one, directed to the groom alone: "To the man who has conquered the bride's heart, and her mother's." And finally, here's one just for the bride by herself; "May you share everything with your husband, including the housework.".

The Internet is loaded with all kinds of ideas and examples of wedding toasts, and finding a free wedding toast online is not hard at all if you just stick with it, allow enough time to browse and poke around so you are not rushed and choose something that is not a good fit for what you want to say, and you will be able to find just what it is you need easily. - 29954
