How To Unblock Your Toilet Bowl ?

By Scott Rodgers

When it comes to handling the plumbing problems of your toilet, the issues cannot be left pending for long. Negligence on that front would disturb the overall sanitation schema of your home.

Instead of availing the services of a plumber straightaway, take the task in your own hands. Understand the problem well and plan a course of action to fix the problem.

Beforehand, make sure that all the required plumbing tools are at your disposal accompanied by a first-aid kit. The basic tools would include the wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, roll of Teflon tape, masking tape, plungers, plumber's snake etc. Once all the tools are arranged then move to the project site.

Kick off the campaign by grabbing a plunger from the plumbing tool box and apply it on the hole at the bottom of the clogged toilet bowl. Pump it repeatedly to ease the water passage from the bowl to the drainage. In case of a half-filled bowl, remove the water from the bowl before the application of the plunger in order to prevent bowl overflow. A small container with a handle can be used to serve the purpose of emptying the bowl. Make sure that the plunger you are using is a flexible one and provides maximum efficiency.

Alternatively, a plumber's snake can be used to unclog the toilet. A plumber's snake tool is a device that has a long metal cable with two ends. One end provides a good handling to the user whereas the other end has a corkscrew auger that does the actual business of removing the clog.

Insert the corkscrew end into the clogged toilet bowl and keep pushing it inwards. Make sure that you keep turning the handle of the tool in a clockwise direction while pushing the cable into the drainage. This allows more force to be exerted which in turn yields a better output.

You can also make use of the chemicals that are specifically produced to clean off the blocked drains. Since these chemicals are extremely harmful to the skin and eyes hence, make sure that you have put on the safety gloves and goggles prior to the chemical usage.

Certain kitchen products such as baking powder, bleaching powder and common vinegar can also be used to ease the flow of water in the toilet bowl. - 29954
