Outdoor Wall Lights Are Must Have Outdoor Lights!

By Duncan Munday

Whether you go for lanterns, ledge lights, down lights or sensor lights; outdoor wall lights are the icing on the cake that is your property. Okay, perhaps that sounds a bit fanciful but it's a fact that a well displayed, well-lit property not only looks good but is likely to be worth more than its poorly-illuminated neighbour.

If you then add into the equation the return on investment you get from an unlit garden compared to an illuminated one and it becomes obvious that installing the best quality outdoor lights you can afford makes good economic sense. Plan your lighting well and you really will be adding an extra room to your house.

Of course, it's not all about looking good; garden lighting bestows practical benefits too - not least of which is improved security. The average intruder will choose an unlit or poorly illuminated home to plunder, so it makes sense to ensure that it's not yours.

Still on the functionality thread, no matter how well-maintained you keep your garden, there will be hazards out. From slippery paths, through crooked paving, to garden ponds it really is your responsibility to ensure that all such hazards are highlighted. Simple wall lights on the patio, or mounted onto the sides or risers of garden steps will go a long way to preventing accidents. And, if the worst happens and somebody does slip or trip, at least you have recourse in law to say that even though the hazard existed it was well defined.

The truly brilliant thing about garden lighting - of any persuasion - is that the size of your outside space is immaterial. From tiny patio to rolling grounds, all will be improved by the shedding of some light. When it comes to wall lights in particular, well, where there's a house there are walls!

Not only will well-chosen lights brighten up that dreary brick wall, they will also transform the area close to the house into a pleasant outside eating area - and you won't fall down the step when carrying piles of plates. Choose your outdoor lights well and you'll be getting practicality and style in one package.

The truth of the matter is that outdoor lighting is the new black - if that's not a contradiction in terms - and is now regarded as de rigueur in the best dressed gardens and as an integral part of the overall garden design. Outdoor lights provide a simple and economical entry point - although don't be surprised if once you've dipped your toe in the water you decide you want to go for full immersion!

Reclaim your garden from the winter, from the rain, from the night, add to the value of your property, and get a real kick when you look out of the window on a dark winter's night; outdoor wall lights will do all this for you (and possibly more). - 29954
