Expanding The Menu Assist Mobile Catering

By Anthony Donelly

Spring heralds not only change in temperature, but it's also a signal to the rest of us that another year of mobile catering is coming. Break out the trailer, paint your vehicle, check its oil and tires and set out on the road. Just keep in mind that vehicles are simply mechanical, but your customers are much more complicated to maintain. It's important to develop your menu this year for the customers.

If you're going to expect your customers to line up once more for you this year, it's important to take a fresh look at your menu and what exactly you're offering and for how much. Your clientele is keeping you in the black, so stay up to speed on what they're going to want and what's coming on each new wave of food and drink.

Today's fast food market is always changing, and consumers these days are incredibly fickle. What's popular yesterday may not be what's on their minds today. As an example, McDonalds' first store opened in'40 and served hamburgers and fries almost exclusively. The past sixty nine years have seen McDonalds ascend to the top of the fast food chain. Why? They continue to adapt and change with the times, incorporating numerous desserts, chicken, fish, and even salads to provide a low fat alternative for the health crazed population of today. Fast food companies even provide counts of calories for each item on their menu to help guide health conscious consumers.

These changes are just as relevant to your own business. People nowadays are interested in eating healthier, organic foods for ethnically diverse meal experiences. Most fast food services have eliminated trans fat and reducing drastically their usage of oil and grease. This provides mobile catering businesses with plenty of exciting opportunities for customizing their menus for their unique customer subsets.

There are many options you can consider, but mobile catering requires extra thought when it comes to choosing the right stuff for your customers. If you go for too many new items, you will see a great deal of food go unsold while you'll end up selling out your more popular items. Yet another issue is that customers will need more time to consider your long menu. These factors can combine to create a serious economic problem for you.

So how do you balance choice with availability and cost? Add a little diversity to your proceedings by purchasing items that will stay good on shelves for long periods of time and that need little or no prep work from your workers. Yogurt can be a great health conscious option, as it's available in individual servings that are prepackaged -- absolutely no work for your employees. Also try energy bars for the same reasons. Not only are these great tasting and require zero upkeep, but they're healthy and will help promote a positive image for your mobile catering company.

It's an absolute necessity for you to cater to your customers' desires, whether you're working at a festival or a fair. That being said, don't change just to change; if your customers would like something new, then by all means give it to them. Make sure that the changes aren't just good for your customers, but a substantial success to you. - 29954
